What people are saying

“Blissful is the perfect description for this soothing meditation! I practice it before bed to help me get a good night’s sleep. It is also a wonderful remedy when I am feeling stressed. Your warmth and loving care are felt in every word, and your voice is like honey! Thank you for this beautiful gift!”

“It is difficult to describe Ms. Ocana without using superlatives:  she is bright, possessed of a first-class mind, and committed to excellence in a special way in whatever she undertakes.

I find Ms. Ocana to be a reliable, responsible, pleasant, compassionate, and warm individual who has the ability to draw patients towards her. In my counseling center, Ms. Ocana has been facilitating Yoga classes for children, adolescents and adults. I have used her services to complement some of my clients’ regular counseling sessions. Ms. Ocana teaches Hatha Yoga within the framework of Raja Yoga, meaning the sessions not only include some poses, but more importantly for our therapeutic work, they include breathing control exercises, guided concentration and meditation techniques, as well as Yoga Nidra or deep relaxation. Most of the patients attending these groups have reported improvements in perceived stress, depression, anxiety, energy, fatigue, and well-being. Initial complaints of headaches, back pain, and poor sleep quality also show a significant improvement, sometimes being fully resolved. Clients working to bring their addictions under control have reported: I have reached a place within me of such peace… I never thought this possible. Yoga facilitates this type of direct experience which is positively transformative, and for some patients, it successfully complements the counseling sessions and helps in their overall healing process.

It is a distinct pleasure to work with Ms. Ocana. Her credentials, background, and my professional work experience with her have provided me with the confidence to recommend her in the area of wellness care.”

“Pamela is an incredibly caring, sensitive, and very knowledgeable Yoga instructor. Her energy, passion, creativity, and knowledge of yoga is very important to me. I have been practicing with her for years and in every session, I learn something new. She continues to help me grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. Love all her classes!”

“Pamela is the most dedicated, compassionate, and knowledgeable teacher I have ever known. When I meet with her, it is clear that my well-being is her top priority. Pamela always wants to know exactly what is going on with me—physically, mentally, and emotionally—and uses her extensive knowledge and experience to cater to any issues I have. She fully explains how to do each practice, demonstrates them, and also explains why they are beneficial. Her gentle warmth and kindness of spirit make her sessions especially healing. Pamela also provides me with knowledge and insight that I use in every area of my life, not just in the yoga studio. Each time I leave a session with her, I am a better person.”

“I just wanted to write to say what a wonderful experience I had with Pamela Ocana and her Gentle Yoga class. I have been practicing yoga for 30 years, and I have done all different styles… some I liked, some I didn’t like as much, most of my experiences were positive. I figured in Gentle Yoga I would have a soothing practice and would stretch out my muscles. Nothing new.

But last night was totally different. Last night my mind caught fire. I don’t know how Pamela did it, but my heart chakra just blew wide open. I felt like I had drunk a bottle of wine. For the first time in 30 years, I really, really understood. I drank the nectar of my breath. I felt the flow. I found the still point. I am still feeling that incredible high. I cannot wait for the next class. Thank you, thank you for this wonderful gift. Yours.”

“I first met Pamela through a friend who highly recommended her as a wonderful teacher. I wondered about my physical ability and if yoga would suit me after years of studying Tai Chi with its flowing, relaxing movements. Physically, my knees are a challenge, so I worried about yoga. After my first class with Pamela, though, I realized that yoga was a lot more than stretching. I could see how the movements would help me physically, but I was also fascinated by the inner effects and found it a perfect complement to the things I already knew. Pamela has always been kind enough to accommodate my physical needs, and she always makes me feel confident that I can succeed. I’m not the skinny, flexible yoga learner, and I still do better on my feet, but little by little I will improve my physical well-being through yoga. Pamela’s classes are always amazing experiences. After each class, I leave with an inner peace and calm. Each time, I learn a little more about myself in a reflective sense. I have a very stressful job, and often people in my profession turn to medicine or psychologists as a way to cope with the stress the job puts on every aspect of life. One day after class, Pamela and I had a conversation that turned into a two-hour private counseling session. In the end, I realized that I had learned more about myself in that two hours than I ever had with a private psychologist. When I was at my lowest point with my job one day, I was ready to pick up the phone and call the healthcare provider, but Pamela immediately came to my mind, and I remembered that day. I realized that the real solution to the problem was to seek her guidance and insight. Through her, I would learn the power of yoga psychology wisdom that would shed light on my life experiences and  enable me to improve the quality of my life. The real solution has to come from within me, not masking it with some drug, but by confronting it… by getting to know myself through my yoga practice. Pamela is a blessing in my life, and I will continue to study yoga with her in the years ahead. Namaste.”

“I am an 81 year old who was diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis, specifically in the sacrum area of the spine. Two sessions of physical therapy helped with the pain and resulted in a series of exercises to strengthen the core to reduce pain episodes. I had heard Yoga providing similar results. I tried Pamela’s Chair Yoga and found it provided similar relief. In fact, three of the exercises are Yoga positions. With her help, I have incorporated Yoga breathing and mental awareness into the physical therapy exercises and find they have become more effective.”
